  1. Title:                             FOOD SERVICE WORKER/CUSTODIAN

 

  1. Reports to: Director of Food Service, Food Service Supervisor, Food Service Manager

  1. Job Description:

To maintain the school kitchen and. dining room areas in a physical condition of cleanliness, healthfulness, and safety at all times in preparation for educational and operational use, and to assist with all kitchen duties.

 

  1. Job Qualifications:

Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent, or the exhibited desire and ability to perform the required duties; previous experience in custodial work is desired; Fluency in writing, speaking and reading English. Maricopa County Food Handlers Card required. Some positions require a valid State of Arizona Driver’s License.

 

  1. Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Prepare dining room for breakfast and lunch meal This includes setting up the proper number of tables; arranging trash cans, brooms, and mop station for use during meal periods; and preparing sanitizer buckets for table cleaning. Prepping and serving meals as time allows.
  • Keep dining room clean throughout lunch period by performing tasks that include wiping down all tables, emptying trash cans, and cleaning trash/debris from Specific dining arrangements may be needed for students with special dietary needs, i.e., peanut allergy, or those attending special education programs.  Flexibility for accommodating all students is required.
  • Assist cafeteria manager with putting away groceries, commodities, and milk, when
  • Ensure tables, floors and trash cans get thoroughly cleaned throughout school
  • Practice proper sanitation and safety procedures according to health department and district

  • Assume responsibility for and secure keys assigned by the Central Office; Keys are assigned

to specific jobs for use and safekeeping.

  • Perform emergency and safety procedures which includes; fire drills, lock downs, and
  • Practice regular and consistent attendance, arriving and departing at the designated times for

the position.  Accurately record time worked.

  • Refrain from the use of inappropriate, obscene, or foul language in every type of
  • Report to Director of Food Service ,Food Service Supervisor and Cafeteria Manager about

any areas or items in need of repair or attention beyond the scope of job duties.

 

  • Maintain district security by locking all doors and gates within the foodservice Employees should only be on campus during business hours. Report any problems with locks, lighting, windows, utilities, etc. to the Director of Food Service, Head Custodian, Food Service Supervisor, Business Manager, or Superintendent.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and talk or hear and sometimes walk and sit.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to fifty (50) pounds, such as boxes, supplies, etc.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus.  The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and to interact with the public and other staff.

The noise level in the work environment is moderate to moderately high during the school day. There may be periods of recurring stress in the performance of this job. Kitchens may be hot to work in during several months of the school year.

 

  1. Terms of Employment: 

Non Exempt, 23-24 SY, 10 month position, 189 days

Salary:  $14.27 an hour 

Full time 8 hours a day

Participation in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS)

Medical Benefits Eligible, Life Insurance (after 60 day)

Sick/Personal Leave Accrual & Holiday Pay after (after 60 day)
