TITLE:                                                    FOOD SERVICE WORKER I

                                                                      

RESPONSIBLE TO:                                     Cafeteria Manager

 

JOB GOAL:                                                   To provide efficient operation of the district kitchens. This includes producing and serving nutritious meals in a clean and safe environment. Students are our first priority.

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:                             

 

Must obtain and maintain a AZ DPS IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card

 

Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent; A minimum of two (2) year’s experience in volume food service operations; Fluency in writing, speaking and reading Spanish preferred. Some positions require a valid State of Arizona Drivers License.

 

                                                                        Within thirty days of employment, employee must obtain a Food Service Worker’s Card from Maricopa County Environmental Services.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:               

 

  1. 1.    Assist manager with preparing main entrees and side dishes according to standardized recipes. Will follow patterns, specific needs and special instructions in conjuction with the National School Lunch Program (NSLP). Ensures reimbursable meals are in compliance with Federal National Lunch Program.
  2. 2.    Perform all kitchen duties as required; i.e., salad preparation, washing dishes, baking, cleaning tables, sweeping and mopping, etc. as needed by manager.
  3. 3.    Assist manager in maintaining accurate and complete reports according to the NSLP which include production records, temperature sheets, and any additional paperwork required by NSLP.
  4. 4.    Assist manager in developing the staff to work efficiently and cooperatively as a team.
  5. 5.    Practice proper sanitation and safety procedures according to health department and district policies.
  6. 6.    Perform all duties and assignments; will be trained to use materials and operate equipment in a safe, responsible and productive manner.
  7. 7.    Perform all serving and dining area duties as needed by manager.
  8. 8.    Maintain good personal cleanliness and dress appropriately for the position.
  9. 9.    Practice Good public relation techniques with students, staff, administration and parents in a cordial and friendly manner. Professional behavior is expected at all times.
  10. 10.  Attend classes, in-services and seminars as needed to keep current with the latest trends in services, equipment, materials and functions as they pertain to state/federal laws and district requirements.
  11. 11.  Listens to, understands, and carries out oral/written instructions and directives and responds with oral/written reports as required.
  12. 12.  Practice good inventory procedures (First in/First out), along with completing and submitting all required paperwork and records.
  13. 13.  Maintain in good condition and store for safekeeping all property, supplies and materials of the district.
  14. 14.  Assume responsibility for and secure keys assigned by the Central Office; Keys are assigned to specific jobs for use and safekeeping.
  15. 15.  Perform emergency and safety procedure which includes; fire drills, lock downs and evacuations.
  16. 16.  Practice regular and consistent attendance, arriving and departing at the designated times for the position. Accurately record time worked.
  17. 17.  Refrain from the use of inappropriate, obscene or foul language in every type of communication.
  18. 18.  Maintain district security by locking all doors and gates within the foodservice area. Employees should only be on campus during business hours. Employees are expected to report any problems with locks, lighting, windows, utilities, etc. to the Cafeteria Manager, Director of Food Service, Head Custodian, Director of Maintenance, Business Manager or Superintendent.
  19. 19.  Adhere to all Buckeye Elementary policies and procedures determined by Governing Board.
  20. 20.  Perform other duties as assigned by the Cafeteria Manager, Director of Food Service, Business Manager or Superintendent.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and talk or hear and sometimes walk and sit.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to fifty (50) pounds, such as boxes, supplies, etc.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus.  The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and to interact with the public and other staff.

The noise level in the work environment is moderate to moderately high during the school day.  There may be periods of recurring stress in the performance of this job. Kitchen may be hot to work in during specific months of the school year.

6 hours per day, Salary: $15.56/hour
